Two days ago Canada legalized marijuana, and impressively timed, that same morning, Classified released the video for his latest single, Legal Marijuana. The video’s a play on the classic Coca-Cola “Hilltop” commercial from 1971. Some people might not like the skewed voice on the chorus but I think it’s catchy. Nova Scotia alone, where Class lives, did $660,000 in marijuana sales that first day.If the title of the album seems familiar, it’s because in June Classified released an EP titled “Tomorrow Could Be…”, so this full length album is those 6 tracks plus 7 new ones. Syd aka “Syd Tha Kyd” (not to be confused with Sid the Kid) is previously known for being a member of the band The Internet who’s genre is classified as neo soul. Syd’s music had previously gone unnoticed to me because of her genre but this new single’s synth sounds and drum kicks brings it into our wheelhouse of music taste. Ria Mae is a pop/alternative artist from Halifax, Canada to keep an eye on. We recommend turning it up a couple extra clicks when listening to her latest music video “Gold”. Ria Mae enjoyed some spot light last year with her 2015 hit Clothes Off (produced by Classified), which has over 2 million views on YouTube now. I’ve been following Ria Mae since her first single Under Your Skin in 2011 off her first album, which is still one of my favorite unique tracks from her. Just a month after the single No Pressure featuring Snoop Dogg leaked, Classified now has a video out for the biggest collaboration off his upcoming album “Greatful” out January 15th. It’s too bad they we’re able to get Snoop Dogg for the video, however they came up with a clever solution to it and you do hear him on a couple phone calls during the video. The video also features cameos by Jonathan Torrens, Tom Green, and Ron Jeremy. Check out the previously released music video Filthy off the album as well. Classified manages to score a new single with Snoop Dogg for his upcoming album “Greatful“, out January 15. Don’t get me wrong, Classified’s had hits with big names before, B.o.B, Royce da 5’9” and Joe Budden to name a few, but I think it’s safe to say Snoop’s the biggest name yet. I’ll be honest, I like Filthy, the previously released single for the album better, but Class is trying to target a wider audience with this one, not just hiphop fans.
