Plot: It’s the typical online story. Boy meets girl on FaceBook, they start talking on the phone, boy and girl start calling each other baby, boy wants to meet girl, you know the drill. However, the whole thing takes a very Alfred Hitchcock turn towards the end.

Columbia Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming film, The Social Network. Like the poster that debuted last week, the teaser is sparse in its detail, but intriguing and provocative at the same time.

Otherwise known as “the Facebook movie,” it's based in part on the book The Accidental Billionaires. It chronicles the formative days of Facebook, from its founding in Mark Zuckerberg’s Harvard dorm room through its early rise to success. It hits theaters this October.

At Facebook, a new idea can lead to a huge impact. In our regular Hackathons, engineers spend the night coding and hacking away at new product ideas. Watch how one of those all-night projects turned into Facebook Video and led to people viewing over a billion videos every month.
