Dalhousie's newest academic building is the greenest place on campus. The building's designers are hoping to receive a gold LEED rating. The building features a long list of green attributes including: bike racks in the basement; shower room and lockers for use of cyclists; a cistern to collect nonpotable water; 85 heat pumps to recirculate heat; high-efficiency lighting with sensors; FSC-certified maple paneling; "OptiNet" air quality sensors measure humidity and carbon dioxide; low-flo bathrooms; rainwater collected from roof and gutters to flush toilets; "Bubbledeck" construction method for fewer materials; "green" roof; and "Solarwall" 200 metres square, to preheat ventilation air.
