Two days ago Canada legalized marijuana, and impressively timed, that same morning, Classified released the video for his latest single, Legal Marijuana. The video’s a play on the classic Coca-Cola “Hilltop” commercial from 1971. Some people might not like the skewed voice on the chorus but I think it’s catchy. Nova Scotia alone, where Class lives, did $660,000 in marijuana sales that first day.If the title of the album seems familiar, it’s because in June Classified released an EP titled “Tomorrow Could Be…”, so this full length album is those 6 tracks plus 7 new ones. Super Nova Scotian is the hidden gem near the end of the album; it features Bubbles! Back in April Ludacris dropped Vitamin D, but his new single “Vices” is on another level. It had been 2 years since Luda dropped a couple tracks on par with this; Beast Mode and Call Ya Bluff. The video follow Luda as he gives into several of his own vices, from in a hotel room in Vegas, to one of his concerts, on the road, and to an after party. Off his new EP album 7 Series, Kid Ink teams up with Starrah for his latest single No Strings. Starrah’s on the come up, often not getting the credit she’s due. She’s had an interesting split of serving as songwriter half the time and being a vocalist the other half the time on a slew of hits over the last 2 years. You may recognize her name from being featured on G-Easy – Order More last year. She’s worked with everyone from Drake to Rihana, The Weeknd and Calvin Harris. It’s kind of surprisingly for me to be posting this and not the other BTC author Pat, he’s the bigger Kendrick Lamar fan, but I wanted to take this one as this is the best Lamar track I’ve heard in a long time. Plus, the visuals of this music video keep you watching; from Lamar as a pope, to him laying on a table of money shooting dollar bills from a money-gun(?), to his version of The Last Supper, to his peer’s heads set aflame wrapped in gasoline-soaked rope, there’s a lot of imagery here. Macklemore has a mega hit on his hands again, this time shedding some light on how Big Pharma and crooked doctors are getting people hooked on opioids just to line their pockets. As a former addict, Macklemore teamed up with President Obama earlier this year and created a documentary on MTV about the opioid crisis. Love it when Macklemore goes hard like he does here, the topics and even it’s visuals reminds me of his 2011 hit Otherside. Living in Seattle, his hometown, I’m already regretting not taking advantage and seeing Macklemore at Bumbershoot 2016. Also, since we haven’t posted on Macklemore before, I gotta give a shoutout to my favorite track of his (especially around St. Patrick’s Day each year), Irish Celebration, less played than many of his other hits.

One of the music videos from last month I keep going back to is Jidenna’s single “Chief Don’t Run”. You probably recognize Jidenna from his 2015 hit Classic Man and the Classic Man (Remix ft Kendrick Lamar). Now here is two leaders in the music scene you would not picture hanging out and making a music video together; Skrillex and Rick Ross. It’s the lead single off the new Suicide Squad album, so I guess it fits right in with the theme of unlikely team’s being formed. What’s even crazier is they actually got Jared Leto (who plays the new Joker) to not just cameo but basically play a featured role for the music video. It’s a trap single, primarily Rick Ross rapping over a Skrillex beat, but Skrillex also chopped and screwed Rick Ross’s lyrics over the chorus as well. It’s been almost a month since our last post so it’s time to catch you up! In case you missed it, one of my favorite English rappers Tinie Tempah dropped a bomb of a new single “Girls Like” ft. Zara Larsson. The music video has already amassed more than 64 million views on YouTube. You might recognize Zara Larsson from her single last year Never Forget You with MNEK.Tinie Tempah burst onto the scene in 2009 with two British number-one singles; Pass Out and Written in the Stars (still 2 of my favorites), after previously releasing just a couple of mixtapes. They were two of the lead singles off his debut album, Disc-Overy, released in October 2010. Another notable single off that album is Frisky. For his first album it featured an impressive number of artist appearances in the followup singles Invincible ft. Kelly Rowland, Wonderman ft. Ellie Goulding, and Till I’m Gone ft. Wiz Khalifa. In November 2013, Tempah released his 2nd studio album Demonstration. With not quite the same level of success, it still included hits Trampoline ft. 2 Chainz and Children Of The Sun ft. John Martin.Tinie Tempah has also been featured on a ton of other artists hits, showing off his skills of being able to work his style into any type of genre; starting with Swedish House Mafia – Miami 2 Ibiza in 2010, and Labrinth – Earthquake in 2011. Then in 2012, he goes all in on collaborational chart toppers with three; Ellie Goulding – Hanging On, Rita Ora – R.I.P. and (another of my favorites) Calvin Harris – Drinking From the Bottle. In 2014 he resurfaces on DVBBS & Borgeous – Tsunami and even last year on KDA – Turn The Music Louder (Rumble) in 2015. We’re looking forward to his third studio album due out this year; Youth (2016). Well, he took it just a little bit further, his new music video features Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman. The video serves to promote Mike Stud's new self-titled album out in 2 days, These Days: The Album, pre-order now on iTunes. It features 10 all new tracks, you can listen to the whole album now on Spotify.

This Isn’t the Album is an 8 tracks mini-album Mike Stud released on October 30. The title’s appropriate, as this is not Mike’s third studio album that he’s been working on. You can listen to the whole album on Youtube or Spotify below. Nyzzy Nyce has released a new music video “Get Me High” for his upcoming mixtape, “Lettin' Go” out December 16th. I’m kind of surprised he’s doing another mixtape, which will mean the songs will probably be free, which is crazy because he’s definitely putting out album worthy songs/videos, and everyone’s waiting for his rumored debut EP “Lost in Paris” but there’s no word on release date yet. A week ago he released another music video “Wait Uh Minute” for the upcoming mixtape that wasn’t as good, but it’s worth a mention.Last month he dropped the music video for “My Car”, which was one of my favorite tracks off his “Lost In Los Angeles” mixtape. Classified manages to score a new single with Snoop Dogg for his upcoming album “Greatful“, out January 15. Don’t get me wrong, Classified’s had hits with big names before, B.o.B, Royce da 5’9” and Joe Budden to name a few, but I think it’s safe to say Snoop’s the biggest name yet. I’ll be honest, I like Filthy, the previously released single for the album better, but Class is trying to target a wider audience with this one, not just hiphop fans. And I gotta say, I love hearing rap icon Snoop Dogg giving shoutouts to back home east coast Canada. Pre-order the album on iTunes to get access to download the first 2 singles, No Pressure and Filthy, now. It's the third single off the album, the first being Angel (ft. Neon Dreams) and second You Ain't Me. Toronto recording artist The Weeknd has been on fire lately, holding down the #1 spot on BillBoard Top 100 with his The Hills single. We thought Drake’s new video for Hotline Bling would be enough to dethrone The Weeknd from the top of the charts but now The Weeknd has managed to score remix collaborations with not just Nicki Minaj, but even more impressively, Eminem. He also released a neat 360 video for it, but only includes the first 2 minutes of the song.

Drake is hoping the release of his new video for “Hotline Bling” will move the single from it’s current spot at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 to #1. If he does he’ll be unseating fellow Toronto artist The Weeknd from the number one spot. Unless you count him being featured on Rihanna’s What’s My Name, it would be his first time getting the #1 spot (Best I Ever Had peaked at #2). There’s not much to the video, we could have done with a little less of just Drake dancing inside a white box, but it’s hard to deny the catchiness of the song itself. As for what’s next for Drake, we’re still predicting the release of his anticipated “Views From The 6” album before the end of 2015.Download: iTunes, Google Music, Amazon

Eminem’s new music video seems like he told the label “for my next music video, I want to kick ass like a star in an (overly stereotypical) action hero movie with tons of random fight scenes and explosions”. It also features a cameo by Fresh Off the Boat actor Randall Park. The single first came out in June earlier this year as lead single on the soundtrack for the film Southpaw (staring Jake Gyllenhaal). The video premiered exclusively on Apple Music on July 3 and has since been only available to view there until now. Speaking of Apple, you’ll also notice some obvious product placements for the Apple Watch and iPhone in the video.Download: iTunes

50 Cent’s new video co-stars Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks as he reenacts the events that led to the shooting back in 2000 that left him with nine gunshot wounds. If you’re like me and not-so-much a fan of the bad acting, you’ll wanna skip to the 3:00 mark (though there’s also a skit from 4:32-6:00). Yeah, that’s right, if you’re following the math that only yields about 2 minutes and 13 seconds of a song, which you can find below on SoundCloud. Despite this, I like the vintage 50 Cent sound. A little grittier than his last release, Get Low ft. Jeremih, T.I., 2 Chainz, 2 months ago which had a more club-scene target audience. The track is off his upcoming 2015 album Street King Immortal (aka SKI), which is due to drop this month after several delays, originally scheduled for a November 2012 release (3 years, crazy!). Mike Stud‘s latest music video On & On features Conrad Sewell on the chorus. On & On is the first single off his new mixtape It’s Spring Break, Homie! which is available to stream on SoundCloud. This Feeling is anther track worth checking out off the mixtape.I just realized this is the first post on Mike Stud on BTC, which is crazy because I just checked my last.fm history and his Let Her Go (Passenger Remix) is actually in my top 10 most played tracks of all time. Mike Stud’s one of the few hip hop artists I like that falls under the genre of Frat Rap. He got his start with College Humor, which is still the first song I think of when I hear his name. College Humor was the first single off his first (mixtape turned) album Toast to Tommy (2012). I highly recommend giving it as listen, one of my favorite albums, check out the music videos from it (in order of popularity); Happy Ending, In This Life, Back Again, Bottle It Up, Summer Swag and On My Way. As a Canadian I can appreciate that you can usually spot a different sweet Jays hat in a ton of his videos.The remixes he’s done have been some of his most popular tracks, like Sage The Gemini Gas Pedal (Remix), and Show Me / Paranoid which is a remix of Kid Ink and Ty Dolla singles. He’s also gained some youtube fame for remixing popular (non-rap) songs like Justin Bieber Boyfriend (Remix), Sam Hunt Leave The Night On (Remix), and of course Let Her Go by Passenger that I linked above. He’s also known for teaming up a lot with Huey Mack on tracks like Love This Life and music videos like School, Alive (Krewella Remix), and Dirty Laundry.His follow up album was Relief (2013), and included the music videos Batter Up and Perfect For Me. His most recent album was in 2014 titled Closer, and featured his music video for Out Here. You might have caught onto his album naming scheme up to this point as Mike Stud used to play college baseball with a promising future until Tommy John Surgery made him decide to focus on his music career. Listen: SoundCloud
