This presentation from Bret Victor is by far the best conference talk I've heard in a long time. Bret invents tools that enable people to understand and create. He has designed experimental UI concepts at Apple, interactive data graphics for Al Gore's book (Our Choice), and musical instruments at Alesis. Bret's talk is on principles, but for many developers what’s really awesome are the software development tools he demos.

If you follow me online, you probably know charity:water is my favorite charity. I respect how transparent they are, how professional their videos and photos are, and the care they put into their campaigns. They've been a big inspiration in starting Given Tree (sign up here for more info).

Kevin Rose sits down with Scott Harrison, founder of the non-profit charity: water, which brings clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

It took 6 different 1/2 days of filming tarp surfing with riders, 1 evening/sunset for intro, 3 full days of filming surfers/waves, 2 days filming people just having fun/dancing, and 120 hours of editing. The entire video was shot on the Canon 5D Mark II, except for one slow motion shot with a Canon T2i, and a glidecam HD-4000.

Film made by Devin Graham. All the filming was done on the island of Oahu, in Hawaii. His friend Carolyn is the soccer player in the film, she's the head soccer coach at BYU Hawaii. Shot on the Canon 5D Mark II, a GoPro HD, and the shots were the camera looks like it's flying were done with a Glidecam HD-4000. Stephen Anderson wrote the score, the song is called "Nearer". IBM, we've all heard the name, we know they are a massive computer company, many of us grew up with an IBM computer in our household, but how have they been around so long? Innovation. The following film features 100 people, who each present the IBM achievement recorded in the year they were born. It offering a whirlwind history of the company. Makes me proud to have worked at IBM. This video straight out of the future is both a reflection on what it means to be creative, and one hell of a dream phone concept. Simply named 'Flip' it's got three flexible AMOLED touchscreens, a keyboard on the reverse, and a custom version of Android. The unique design yields some neat features; rotate through twitter, fold-over for multi-user video viewing, video-on-top/comments-below.

This video simply and truly inspires me. The narration by JD Smith is amazing. It almost gives it that old time feel and the film is basically all about letting go when our children grow up and get married. This is the final chapter to a year of seasonal videos by Gnarly Bay Productions, Inc. It’s quite touching and there are definitely very nostalgic moments. I hope you enjoy.

A remarkable short film by cinematographer Shane Hurlbut, the cinematographer of Terminator Salvation. It was shot using the Canon 5D Mark II. Sponsored by Canon, filming spanned 17 locations across 4 1/2 days.

The main character in this short is William Turner, a janitor whose life seems mundane on the surface but as it develops, many interesting layers are revealed. See behind the scenes here.

April 3, 2010 was worldwide pillow fight day and Chris Crutchfield put together an awesome video showcasing the wild event. "Pillows" was shot on a Canon T2i using just the kit 18-55 lens and audio was captured using the Zoom H4N. All the post production was done in Final Cut Studio and After Effects. The music is by PrettyLights called “Finally Moving remix”.

This wistful quote from Stephen Alesch speaks volumes of the spaces he and Robin Standefer create as architects. Their firm Roman & Williams, named after their grandparents.
