Back in April Ludacris dropped Vitamin D, but his new single “Vices” is on another level. It had been 2 years since Luda dropped a couple tracks on par with this; Beast Mode and Call Ya Bluff. The video follow Luda as he gives into several of his own vices, from in a hotel room in Vegas, to one of his concerts, on the road, and to an after party. Tragic. Today we lost one of the most influential lead vocalists, of one of the biggest rock bands, of our generation; Chester Bennington. Just last month Patrick, myself and several of my friends attended what would turn out to be our first and last Linkin Park concert. As noted through various posts on this site, Linkin Park was Pat and I’s favorite band growing up, and there’s a mix of gratefulness that we finally got to see our favorite band perform live, and sadness that we won’t get to do it again. My fiancé had also bought me tickets to give to me on my birthday to see them in Seattle in October. Linkin Park’s Youtube account had released a brand new music video the same morning before the news of Chester’s passing broke, made up of tour footage, it’s now serving as a tribute to Chester, trending at #1 on Youtube.

Off his new EP album 7 Series, Kid Ink teams up with Starrah for his latest single No Strings. Starrah’s on the come up, often not getting the credit she’s due. She’s had an interesting split of serving as songwriter half the time and being a vocalist the other half the time on a slew of hits over the last 2 years. You may recognize her name from being featured on G-Easy – Order More last year. She’s worked with everyone from Drake to Rihana, The Weeknd and Calvin Harris. Few people will remember this, but this is not the First Time that Kygo and Ellie Goulding have actually worked together (see what we did there?). Well, kind of; in 2014 Kygo was just breaking onto the scene when he released a High For This (Remix) of Ellie Goulding’s 2012 cover of The Weeknd. Kygo’s come a long way since then and now he gets to work with Goulding on an original track. First Time is a follow up hit to another recent collaboration Kygo did with Selenia Gomez titled It Aint Me. Linkin Park has now released an official music video for Good Goodbye; their latest single that dropped early last month. The video adds intro music very similar to that of the Stranger Things title sequence, as well as being shot in an similar 1980s sci-fi movie look with neon red/pink bleeding edges. The video combines Mortal Kombat with NBA Jam in a supernatural life-or-death basketball competition where NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar serves as judge and executioner. The duo of last year’s beer pong anthem Pong Dance is back! This time Vigiland is taking over the repeat button on your Friday nights. It’s kind of surprisingly for me to be posting this and not the other BTC author Pat, he’s the bigger Kendrick Lamar fan, but I wanted to take this one as this is the best Lamar track I’ve heard in a long time. Plus, the visuals of this music video keep you watching; from Lamar as a pope, to him laying on a table of money shooting dollar bills from a money-gun(?), to his version of The Last Supper, to his peer’s heads set aflame wrapped in gasoline-soaked rope, there’s a lot of imagery here. Syd aka “Syd Tha Kyd” (not to be confused with Sid the Kid) is previously known for being a member of the band The Internet who’s genre is classified as neo soul. Syd’s music had previously gone unnoticed to me because of her genre but this new single’s synth sounds and drum kicks brings it into our wheelhouse of music taste. Macklemore has a mega hit on his hands again, this time shedding some light on how Big Pharma and crooked doctors are getting people hooked on opioids just to line their pockets. As a former addict, Macklemore teamed up with President Obama earlier this year and created a documentary on MTV about the opioid crisis. Love it when Macklemore goes hard like he does here, the topics and even it’s visuals reminds me of his 2011 hit Otherside. Living in Seattle, his hometown, I’m already regretting not taking advantage and seeing Macklemore at Bumbershoot 2016. Also, since we haven’t posted on Macklemore before, I gotta give a shoutout to my favorite track of his (especially around St. Patrick’s Day each year), Irish Celebration, less played than many of his other hits.

 Zara Larsson has another #1 single on her hands. Building off the success of her single last year, Never Forget You in collaboration with MNEK, earlier this year Tinie Tempah released one of my favorite tracks of 2016: Girls Like featuring Zara on vocals (mega post there on Tinie Tempah if you need a catchup). Then in June, Larsson was featured in the official song of UEFA Euro 2016, David Guetta’s This One’s for You. “Ain’t My Fault” is the first single off her upcoming 2nd studio album, name and release date TBD. Toronto native The Weeknd is back with another big featured artist – Daft Punk. It’s the first single off his upcoming third album by the same name “Starboy” out November 25th. Last year he released his most popular single to date with The Hills (which is closing in on a billion views now on Youtube) and he built on it’s success even more scoring The Hills remixes featuring Eminem and Nicki Minaj. Felix Jaehn is back with what is sure to be his first hit of 2016. Bonfire features ALMA in the song and video, she was a contestant on The Voice Finland 3 years ago and this year in June had a hit Karma (also worth a download). Now that she’s scored a feature on a Felix Jaehn track I’m sure we’ll be seeing her featured on several more hits in the future. We featured Felix last year for his 2015 hit Ain’t Nobody (Loves Me Better) and if you’re looking for more he released Book Of Love later in 2015 as well.

Now here is two leaders in the music scene you would not picture hanging out and making a music video together; Skrillex and Rick Ross. It’s the lead single off the new Suicide Squad album, so I guess it fits right in with the theme of unlikely team’s being formed. What’s even crazier is they actually got Jared Leto (who plays the new Joker) to not just cameo but basically play a featured role for the music video. It’s a trap single, primarily Rick Ross rapping over a Skrillex beat, but Skrillex also chopped and screwed Rick Ross’s lyrics over the chorus as well. Ria Mae is a pop/alternative artist from Halifax, Canada to keep an eye on. We recommend turning it up a couple extra clicks when listening to her latest music video “Gold”. Ria Mae enjoyed some spot light last year with her 2015 hit Clothes Off (produced by Classified), which has over 2 million views on YouTube now. I’ve been following Ria Mae since her first single Under Your Skin in 2011 off her first album, which is still one of my favorite unique tracks from her. It’s been almost a month since our last post so it’s time to catch you up! In case you missed it, one of my favorite English rappers Tinie Tempah dropped a bomb of a new single “Girls Like” ft. Zara Larsson. The music video has already amassed more than 64 million views on YouTube. You might recognize Zara Larsson from her single last year Never Forget You with MNEK.Tinie Tempah burst onto the scene in 2009 with two British number-one singles; Pass Out and Written in the Stars (still 2 of my favorites), after previously releasing just a couple of mixtapes. They were two of the lead singles off his debut album, Disc-Overy, released in October 2010. Another notable single off that album is Frisky. For his first album it featured an impressive number of artist appearances in the followup singles Invincible ft. Kelly Rowland, Wonderman ft. Ellie Goulding, and Till I’m Gone ft. Wiz Khalifa. In November 2013, Tempah released his 2nd studio album Demonstration. With not quite the same level of success, it still included hits Trampoline ft. 2 Chainz and Children Of The Sun ft. John Martin.Tinie Tempah has also been featured on a ton of other artists hits, showing off his skills of being able to work his style into any type of genre; starting with Swedish House Mafia – Miami 2 Ibiza in 2010, and Labrinth – Earthquake in 2011. Then in 2012, he goes all in on collaborational chart toppers with three; Ellie Goulding – Hanging On, Rita Ora – R.I.P. and (another of my favorites) Calvin Harris – Drinking From the Bottle. In 2014 he resurfaces on DVBBS & Borgeous – Tsunami and even last year on KDA – Turn The Music Louder (Rumble) in 2015. We’re looking forward to his third studio album due out this year; Youth (2016). Well, he took it just a little bit further, his new music video features Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman. The video serves to promote Mike Stud's new self-titled album out in 2 days, These Days: The Album, pre-order now on iTunes. It features 10 all new tracks, you can listen to the whole album now on Spotify.

This Isn’t the Album is an 8 tracks mini-album Mike Stud released on October 30. The title’s appropriate, as this is not Mike’s third studio album that he’s been working on. You can listen to the whole album on Youtube or Spotify below. DJ Earworm (Jordan Roseman) is back with his yearly United State of Pop mashup to wrap up the year. This year he managed to mashup the top 50 songs into a single track (previously it was only the top 25). Personally, we think this year's version isn't quite as good as last year's United State of Pop 2014, you'll notice it's a little slower pace. "Music has been going through a softer phase than it was a few years ago so there's that return of adult contemporary" said DJ Earworm. Still, it's always amazing he's able to merge that many hits into one; you can get a copy of the track to download free here.
