A really long time ago, I was bored and I like to design random stuff whenever boredom kicks in so I re-designed Twitter's dashboard which can be found here: http://forrst.com/posts/Twitter_Redesign-r9y . Now, 2 years passed by and over the years I've learned more and gained more experience so I decided to re-design Twitter again one more time. Yes, I was bored. So here it is.

This time I designed Twitter with the idea of creating a wide dashboard that displays everything and be able to quickly access the things you want. The previews you see only shows the design in it's wide-est form and of course if it was ever coded it will be responsive and will do it's magic. Even though I wanted to design a mobile/responsive version I got caught up with client-work and such I did not have enough time to put more work into this little project.

Here's 2 options:

1. Use Twitter RSS - Google Apps Script from github to convert Twitter API 1.1 to RSS. Using this option you can get search results, users' timelines, users’ favorites or even Twitter Lists.
2. Use twitter-rss.com to get a user's timeline (might include ads in the timeline).

Didn't see the point of Twitter Cards creating a new spec when Open Graph already existed, but with the latest update that includes new markup tags for app links and new types like image galleries which are likely only really specific to a twitter-like experience, I'm starting to see why they decided to start their own.

Former Twitter developer and probably most popular for being the co-founder of Bootstrap, Jacob Thornton (aka Fat), did a comical and quite entertaining talk at dotJS 2012 on the history of popular Open Source projects. With him being a successful serial open source contributor, it's interesting to hear his views (20 minutes in) on why he does it and surprisingly some of the downsides of it.

I recently posted a link to "Beautiful Buttons for Twitter Bootstrap" which allows you to pick different colors for your bootstrap elements, but this goes a step further. It provides examples of how easy it is to swap out color palettes and fonts for Bootstrap.

jQuery UI Bootstrap offers a clean implementation of the Twitter Bootstrap design as a jQuery UI theme that can be applied to widgets . It also includes a 'cleaned up' version of Bootstrap which can be used alongside this particular theme without needing to worry about styles colliding.

Twitter has introduced a new redesign of Twitter.com with a two-pane format. The first pane is the single pane from today's Twitter - the timeline. In the second pane, the "details pane", users will see additional info related to the author or subject of a tweet, when clicked. This pane will also display things like @replies, other tweets from that user, maps, videos, photos, etc.

Twitter has partnered with DeviantArt, Etsy, Flickr, Justin.TV, Kiva, Photozou, TwitPic, Twitvid, USTREAM, Vimeo, Yfrog, YouTube, and many others to bring link's content right into the site.

Twitter Search is great — except when 99.9% of the results are from people you could care less about. FriendFeed offers such a feature with its search. Now a new service, Flocking.me, brings the same thing to Twitter.
