In preparation for the launch of Halo 4, Microsoft funded a phenomenal 5 part web-series on Machinima Prime which tells a story taking fans back to the beginning of the human and Covenant war, and leading into the events of Halo 4. It was incredibly well done - I ended up watching all 5 parts back-to-back.

The following trailer for the DC Universe Online video game was released at Comic-Con and it looks EPIC. The 3-D animation is fantastic and the directing of this six-minute trailer was executed exceptionally well. If the guys who made this made a DC Universe movie, I'd buy a ticket.

Some of the less know characters I had to look up are Giganta at the start, Deathstroke who reminds me of Deadpool, and the one I found most interesting was Black Adam (Shazam). Love the look of the new Joker and Cyborg. Anyone know why Superman's eyes are red?

BioWare and Star Wars is almost a match made in heaven, but when it comes to MMOs, they are still inexperienced. EA hopes that Mythic Studios (the team behind Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning) can bring the game to where it needs to be. Fans remain skeptic until they see the end result, but until then, enjoy the trailer.

Androideroids is a eight-player game which runs on desktop client showing an overhead view of the battle, meanwhile each player's controller is their android phone which also gives a first-person view of the shenanigans.

At E3, Bungie gave a sneak peak at Halo: Reach, the final game being published by Bungie for the seminal sci-fi gaming franchise. The demo revealed a campaign mission roughly midway through Halo: Reach's prequel story, which sets up the events of the original trilogy. The game is out on September 14.

It’s back! Gears of War 3 was announced last night. Head programmer Cliff Bleszinski appeared on the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon show last night and revealed it’s launch. This is the 3rd title in a series of very popular bloody FPS games. Cliff mentioned new features and weapons such as a double barrel shotgun, new monsters that mutate as you fight them and finally there will be female soldiers in the game.

Even though the "turning into fighter jets" bit is out in favor of turning into space tanks and other fictional vehicles, the other main linchpin of the Transformers franchise is fully intact: robots fighting constantly.

Three Googlers present their 20% project to port the Quake II game to the browser using HTML5. No plug-in required!

"We started with the existing Jake2 Java port of the Quake II engine, then used the Google Web Toolkit (along with WebGL, WebSockets, and a lot of refactoring) to cross-compile it into Javascript. We were honestly a bit surprised when we saw it pushing over 30 frames per second on our laptops!"

A role-playing game in development by Snowblind Studios. It is based on the events taking place in the northern regions of Middle-earth in the background of the main story of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and movies. Players will take control of a hero of the war, and will be able to play through the game alone or cooperatively with other players. The game is scheduled for release in NA in 2011.

A turn-based strategy & real-time tactics video game released for PC, developed by The Creative Assembly and published by Sega. Napoleon was released on 23 February 2010. The game is the sixth stand-alone instalment in the Total War series, and focuses on the politics and major military campaigns at the beginning of the 19th century. Players assume the role of Napoleon Bonaparte, or one of his major rivals, on a turn-based campaign map and engage in the subsequent battles in real-time. You can see what the gameplay is like here

Today solo game developer Eric Ruth released a gameplay trailer for his NES remake of Left 4 Dead. That's right, Ruth's created a top-down, 16-color, four-channel-soundtrack and 256x240-resolution version of Valve's zombie apocalypse. The final game will feature all five maps, all four campaigns and all five of the special infected zombies. The game will be available for free in early January.
