AWN's well done SysTray just can't be beat. Like you, I use my dock to replace GNOME panel so I NEED a systray applet. Cairo dock offers one but it's terribly ugly, and the others don't even offer one! To be honest I'm using Cairo dock on the bottom (love the true parabolic zoom), but I've got AWN running on the side with the systray applet the only thing running in it, just so I can have it, lol.
